Carson... for those of you that don't know Carson very well, he is my "strong-willed" son... and that is probably putting it nicely, but hopefully gives you an idea of his personality.  I think he stood in line twice for the stubborn genes.  I love him dearly and he can be just as sweet as he is bull-headed, unfortunately it has been a while since I have seen that "sweet" side.

He started school last week and is now in the 1st grade.  I am not sure why a ... "I am too cool for you" attitude has to accompany 1st grade, but it has for him and he has been a snot ever since school started.  Here are 2 conversations that I had with him today... there are plenty more, but these were too good not to share.

Carson asked me "When is dad taking us fishing?"...  "Maybe when you decide to start acting better" was my response.  He then followed that up with "I CAN'T DO THAT!  WHEN DAD RAISED ME HE RAISED ME AS A NAUGHTY BOY... I CAN'T BE NICE!!!"

Later he was being his pain in the butt self again and I asked him what the deal was with the attitude problem that he has developed since school started... his response "I didn't get it in the 1st grade mom, I've always had it, even when I was in your tummy... that's why I was kicking you!"

Good thing he's SO cute... huh?  :)

1st Day of School

Just some fun pictures of the boys that I took today...
the 1st day of school!!!!!

Carson is in his aunts class...  all week we have been practicing "Mrs. Hawkes" instead of "Aunt Stacey".  I am SO grateful that Stacey (Mrs. Hawkes) loves me enough to take on Carson this year.  She is an incredible teacher as well as a very brave aunt.  (smiles)

I tried my hardest to get a shot with all 4 of them smiling and looking at me... this is just as good as it gets.

I can't believe I have a 3rd grader, ahh! ... he's just WAY TOO COOL for me!  (smiles)

It feels good to be back to somewhat of a routine... it is still a work in progress but today went pretty good.  I spoke to soon...  as I am typing I can hear footsteps upstairs... why can't they just stay in bed after you put them in bed?

Memorial Day

Adam's mom died 5 years ago and since then we have all met at the Franklin Idaho cemetery on Memorial Day to remember her.  We have a great time re-telling stories about her...  the stories seem to get better each year.  We sure miss her!  We then invade Adam's brothers house for some great food and of course, dutch oven potatoes!

All of us in front of Sue's beautiful headstone.

All the boys!

All the girls!

Me and the boys having some fun on Uncle Todd's 4-wheeler.
They each took turns driving me around.

I am blessed to have married into such an incredible family.
We always have such a great time when we get together.

Kindergarten Graduation.... HE DID IT!

Carson did it... he graduated from Kindergarten!!!  He learned so much this year.  He is reading and writing so good.  He brought home some of his journals last week and I had such a good time reading them and seeing his improvement throughout the year.

They had a cute little program for graduation and received diplomas.

This is Carson with his teacher, Mrs. Detterbeck.  She was a great teacher and we will miss her.
I am so proud of you Carson!!!

Summer cuts

Well we broke down and did it....  My little HAIR BALLS are no longer!
This is Cooper before dad caught him... he had gotten a sucker stuck in his hair that morning and I decided it was time.

During.... Adam thought this would be a great look for him.

And the handsome little devil after.
My baby looks so much older now.... boo hooo!

And then it was little "surfer boy's" turn.  I really didn't want to cut Cody's hair.  It was so long and the kid has a serious square noggin' that just looks better with long hair.  But we did it!

and after...
the anxiety was a waste of time.
They are still super handsome little boys even when they are bald.  (smiles)

My boys

It took a little begging and a lot of bribery, but I got all 4 of my active boys to comb their hair, put on clean (somewhat matching) clothes and sit still for a photo shoot in the front yard.

Handsome lil' devils, aren't they?

"So good I could drink it"

I know I have said it before but never actually acted on it...
my little Cody Garrett LOVES his fry sauce so much that he drinks it...
with a straw.

Even more proof that he spent time with his Grandma Sue in heaven!

Carson lost his other front tooth yesterday, 2 in 2 days...  I feel for his speech therapist, she thought she had it bad before... now he whistles and rolls his words all at the same time.  (smiles)

Soccer, hair and the Tooth Fairy

The (big) boys played their last SOCCER game of the season today,
it was a cold and wet game that I enjoyed from the car.
Their baseball game was postponed because of the fabulous weather...
but nothing seems to stop soccer.

They were quite excited to receive their medals after the game and are already talking about playing again in the fall.

This is as good as it gets when all 4 of them are posing for pictures... if you look really close you can see the HAIR cut that Cody gave himself last night.  So not funny!

... and Carson's mouth and his scooter collided and he lost another tooth but the TOOTH FAIRY forgot to come last night.  I bet she feels so bad that she is going to over-compensate him tonight for that tooth.

Could it be?

I am not the sharpest tool in the shed... but this kind of looks like someone is shining up "new member" and getting ready to put a FOR SALE sign on him?  One can only hope, I don't dare ask.  (smiles)

Is hair really suppose to do this?

This is what happens when your mom refuses to cut your hair because you are her "baby" and she doesn't want you to "grow up" and she puts you on the tramp between two wild brothers that are in the middle of a pillow fight.  So embarrassing... somebody please send scissors.

Spring Break 2009

I have to be honest, I love hanging out with my boys, I really do... but they had 5 entire days off for Spring Break this year, which really was 9 if you count the weekends.  Who gets 5 days off for Spring Break?  We were lucky to get 2 days off when I was in school.
I was a bit nervous as to what I was going to do with them...  I have to keep them busy or bad things happen fast.  (smiles)

We all went to the Bean Museum one day, it was cheap entertainment for all.

We woke up to 9" of snow in our yard the next day... who gets to say they played in the snow for Spring Break.

Adam had to break out the snow blower... love the shorts and sunglasses.

Snowing once we have pulled the summer clothes out can be really confusing to little ones.  I told the boys they could go out and play and to get their winter clothes on and this is what Cody put on.  He was a little upset with me when I told him he had to put pants and a shirt on.

And then we decided to hit the road and get out of the snow and headed to St. George.  It was a last minute decision and I got hotel reservations and everyone packed and ready to go in less than an hour.  So not like me... I am such a planner.

Adam had a great time showing the boys where he went to school and played football.   I am so glad they are all back to school and am left wondering what in the world am I going to do with them ALL SUMMER?
