Carson... for those of you that don't know Carson very well, he is my "strong-willed" son... and that is probably putting it nicely, but hopefully gives you an idea of his personality.  I think he stood in line twice for the stubborn genes.  I love him dearly and he can be just as sweet as he is bull-headed, unfortunately it has been a while since I have seen that "sweet" side.

He started school last week and is now in the 1st grade.  I am not sure why a ... "I am too cool for you" attitude has to accompany 1st grade, but it has for him and he has been a snot ever since school started.  Here are 2 conversations that I had with him today... there are plenty more, but these were too good not to share.

Carson asked me "When is dad taking us fishing?"...  "Maybe when you decide to start acting better" was my response.  He then followed that up with "I CAN'T DO THAT!  WHEN DAD RAISED ME HE RAISED ME AS A NAUGHTY BOY... I CAN'T BE NICE!!!"

Later he was being his pain in the butt self again and I asked him what the deal was with the attitude problem that he has developed since school started... his response "I didn't get it in the 1st grade mom, I've always had it, even when I was in your tummy... that's why I was kicking you!"

Good thing he's SO cute... huh?  :)

WOW!!!!!! You have your hands full. I wonder what he will be like as a teenager...uhm maybe we wont go there just yet. Zac is kinda the same way sometimes and comes up with that kind of attitude. Call Haley to babysit if you start to go out of your mind and want to go hide and get away. Hope things get better. BOYS ARE HARD. I have 4 I know. But they mellow out as they grow older. Maybe he will be just the opposite when he is a teenager. You need a girl to mellow him out. I wish I had 2 Haley's

Good Luck! :) It really must come with 1st graders though, well except for the ones that develop it in the tummy, because Justin has been a little snot too. Let me know what if you find anything that works. The only thing I've got is telling him he's going to clean toilets if he keeps sassing me... Turds!

Jacob's worst year was 1st grade. He is my "strong-willed" son as you well know. He's mellowed out quite a bit now. I count my blessings every day. But I can honestly say I understand. It can be very difficult, embarrassing, frustrating, anxiety-inducing, etc... but if you weren't the woman for the job he wouldn't be yours so keep smiling! You're doing great.

I just want to know why the strong willed ones are so dang smart! That's Kenny too- his just started to mellow out this year. Like Jamie said he wouldn't be yours if you couldn't handle it! Send him to the Corbett's if he gets too much- we'll have him pull weeds with Kenny! LOL!!!

Man, I hate that when they say something mean but it is so hilarious, so you don't now whether to spank or laugh. But at least you know who to balme...like Carson said, his daddy taught him to be naughty!! ;-)

Oh my gosh, that is so funny that Carsen said that, it is a good thing he is so cute...all of them are handsome little devils. Good work you two!
When are you going to leave them and come see us??? Or bring them along, let the kids play...or maybe not, we have to keep those Hawkes' boys away from our girls! Dangerous!! :)
Love you guys!

Oh Amy that is too funny! I have a couple of those little fetchers and I think it is paybacks to our husbands. Why do we have to suffer though?
